Where Michele Will Take Us
"I want to take on the status quo and the special interests, make Albany work for us. I will fight to hold state government to the same standards as we hold ourselves, I will enact tough reforms that increase accountability and transparency while reducing spending and taxes. I recognize the challenges the middle class is facing and will work hard to stop runaway healthcare and energy costs while creating and protecting high paying jobs."
- Reform Albany by adding transparency to the budget process, enacting term limits for legislators and imposing tough new ethics rules.
- Get budget spending in line by enacting performance based budgeting and “best practices” legislation, as well as reducing the state’s debt each year.
- Reduce the tax burden by shrinking the budget, cutting wasteful state spending, and reforming Medicaid.
- Protect the jobs we have by reforming IDAs and Empire Zones, enacting “clawback” laws to make sure companies deliver on their promises of job creation and making New York more business friendly.
- Create new, high paying jobs by aggressively supporting the expansion of the State University at Buffalo, supporting new “green collar” jobs, as well as investing in education and job re-training programs to ensure we have the work force for new jobs.
- Make healthcare more affordable by prosecuting Medicaid fraud, creating a plan to combat chronic illness, and rewarding doctors for higher quality care.
- Control runaway energy costs by advocating for the NRG Huntley plant and building or remodeling all public buildings to LEED building standards which will reduce energy consumption.
